Vedaa is a gripping action drama directed by Nikkhil Advani. The movie stars John Abraham, Sharvari, and Abhishek Banerjee, among others. Said to be inspired by true events, the film is written by Aseem Arrora and produced by Zee Studios, Umesh Kr Bansal, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, John Abraham, and co-produced by Minnakshi Das. According to a statement by the makers of the film, the film promises a jaw-dropping story filled with heart-pounding stunts and high-octane action. Director Nikkhil Advani said, “It is not just a film. It is inspired by real events. It reflects our society and pushes the boundaries of reality. Even though the film is fictionalized, the core of the story and what the protagonist goes through is still very prevalent.”
At the trailer launch, John Abraham, who is also one of the producers, said, “It’s a very emotional film. When you see the film, you will understand what I’m talking about. It’s a beautiful, emotional story. I get moved sometimes when I watch it during the editing process.”

The movie trailer begins with Major Abhimanyu Kanwar (John Abraham) reciting a Bhagavad Gitashlok, “Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya,” as he takes down a group of goons. It is later revealed that he was court-martialed for disobeying orders. The focus then shifts to Sharvari’s character, Vedaa, an ordinary girl from an oppressed background. Her story is intertwined with Abhimanyu’s as she strives to rise above societal constraints and fight for justice with Abhimanyu as her mentor.

The story revolves around Vedaa, a young Dalit woman whose life takes a dark turn when her brother’s relationship with an upper-caste girl sparks violent, caste-based conflicts. Determined to protect herself and her family, she learns boxing to develop the strength and skills to fight back against her oppressors. Meanwhile, Major Abhimanyu Kanwar is a court-martialed army officer who joins a college as an assistant boxing coach. His wife was killed in Kashmir by a terrorist. As Vedaa and Abhimanyu cross paths, their lives become intertwined. Their shared experiences of injustice and resilience lead them to form a bond and fight against oppressors. The film explores the challenges faced by marginalized communities and the power of determination to overcome adversity.

When is the movie releasing on ZEE5?
The Hindi movie is set to premiere on October 10, 2024 on ZEE5. Vedaa will be available to watch in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.
